  • Unless otherwise specified, orders in this article refer to Robo-Advisor ETF Portfolio orders;

  • T day refers to a US stock trading day; RTH refers to regular trading hours of US stocks. All times mentioned are Eastern Standard Time.

1. General Trading Rules

1.1 Order execution

Order type

Market order

Time-in-force

Day order

Trading session

RTH only

  • All Robo-Advisor ETF Portfolio orders are market orders, effective for one trading day, and can only be partially or fully filled during regular trading hours (RTH). Since they are market orders, any unfilled portion of an order will be automatically canceled at market close.

  • When is an order expected to be filled?

    • After an order is submitted, it is expected to be filled during RTH on the current or next trading day.

    • Orders successfully submitted during RTH on T day will be executed during RTH on the same day.

    • Orders successfully submitted after RTH on T day will be executed during RTH on T+1 day.

  • Please note that the fractional share and whole shares of the same security in the same order may be traded at different prices. The price at which the fractional share is bought/sold may differ slightly from the market price.

1.2 When can I submit an order?

  • Buy and sell orders: You can submit a buy/sell order in the app anytime except for the last 15 minutes of RTH (usually 3:45 PM - 4:00 PM EST).

  • Rebalancing orders: You can submit a rebalancing order in the app anytime except for the last 30 minutes of RTH (usually 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM EST).

  • If you have enabled Auto-Rebalancing, you do not need to submit rebalancing orders in the app yourself.

1.3 Other things to note when submitting an order

  • To avoid changing the asset allocation of your ETF portfolio, which may lead to a higher risk of loss, you can only submit one order for the same ETF portfolio at a time. You can cancel a submitted order when it is still cancelable or wait for it to be partially or fully executed before submitting a new one.

  • Order submission and cancellation can only be done by the account holder themselves in the mobile app but not on PC or over the phone.

  • Robo-Advisor ETF Portfolios are constructed by professional strategists through scientific quantitative modeling, and the weighting of each ETF in a portfolio is closely related to its performance. Therefore, you cannot change the portfolio strategy, i.e., you cannot change how much of each constituent ETF is sold and its weighting, nor can you sell only some of the constituent ETFs.

1.4 Estimated transaction details

  • Please note that the Estimated Buy/Sell Details shown on the order page are calculated based on the latest market prices at the time you enter the page and are for reference only.

  • Subject to market fluctuations and actual order execution, the final transaction results may differ slightly from the Estimated Buy/Sell Details.

  • Please go to Accounts > Securities > the corresponding ETF portfolio's Position Details page > Orders and tap the corresponding order to view the latest transaction status.

2. Buy Orders

2.1 Minimum amount to buy

  • The order amount of a buy order must be higher than the minimum amount to buy.

  • You can check the minimum amount required in the input box on the order page.

2.2 Maximum amount to buy: Max Amount to Buy (Cash)

  • Robo-Advisor ETF Portfolios can only be purchased with cash with a 100% margin. Margin trading is not supported. Therefore, the maximum amount you can buy is the cash available in the paying account (excluding frozen funds), i.e., Max Amount to Buy (Cash). You can see the amount below the order amount input box on the order page.

  • Please note that the Max Amount to Buy (Cash) is subject to other transactions (including but not limited to individual stock/fund/options trading, RSP trading, and options exercise) and other deductions by the system (e.g., automatic debit, automatic repayment after margin trading) under the same universal account. Please ensure there is sufficient cash in your account after placing an order.

2.3 Other things to note

  • To protect your rights and interests, you are required to complete a risk profile questionnaire and read and confirm the risk disclosure for fractional share trading and other risk control requirements before buying ETF portfolios.

3. Sell Orders

3.1 Maximum amount to sell

  • The Max Amount to Sell is the market value of your sellable ETF shares:

  • Max Amount to Sell = Number of Sellable Shares * Latest Market Price as You Refresh the Page

  • Sellable shares do not include shares frozen due to corporate actions or risk control measures under extreme circumstances. Please note that the Max Amount to Sell shown on the order page may differ slightly from the portfolio's latest real-time market value during RTH. You can pull the page down to refresh it and get the latest Max Amount to Sell.

3.2 Minimum remaining balance

  • When you partially sell a portfolio, you need to ensure the remaining balance after the transaction is greater than the minimum amount required to maintain the portfolio, i.e., Min Remaining Balance.

  • The Min Remaining Balance of each ETF portfolio may be different. You can check it in the input box on the order page.

3.3 Sell all

  • If you enter a sell amount so high that the portfolio's value is expected to fall below the Min Remaining Balance, you will not be able to submit the order.

  • You can enter a lower amount or tap the Sell All button on the right side of the input box to sell all sellable shares of the portfolio.

  • Please note that if you place a Sell All order during RTH, subject to market fluctuations or other factors, the actual amount sold may differ slightly from the Max Amount to Sell and Estimated Sell Amount shown on the order page.

3.4 Minimum amount to sell

  • The amount of a sell order must be higher than the minimum amount to sell, which may be different for each ETF portfolio.

  • If the sell amount you enter is lower than the minimum amount required, you will see a red message below the input box.

4. Order Cancellation and Modification

  • After successfully submitting an order, you can cancel it before the RTH on the next US stock trading day. No cancellation is allowed after the market opens on that day.

  • To cancel an order, please go to Accounts > Universal Account > Orders (at the top of the page) > the order's Details page and tap the Cancel button in the upper right corner of the page.

  • Robo-Advisor ETF Portfolio orders cannot be modified after submission. You can place a new order after canceling the previous one.
